Swim in an Indoor Ocean Filled with 1 Million Recyclable Plastic Balls in Washington
As a child, you dreamt of swimming in a pool filled with balls. But even if you’ve actually grown up, you can still fulfill that childhood dream of yours.
The National Building Museum’s newest exhibition titled “The Beach” will let you swim in an ocean filled with one million translucent polyethylene balls. Designed by Snarkitecture, an experimental design firm, the immersive installation covers 10,000-square-foot space.
With a 50-foot-wide shoreline that has neutral-colored umbrellas and seatings, opposite-facing mirrored walls, as well as pop-up snack bars, visitors can certainly feel they are actually in the sea.
The best thing about it is that all the balls are completely recyclable according to its organizers.
Talk about love for the environment!
People are encouraged to swim in the ocean…
…dangle their feet off the pier
…or just simply relax in the indoor beach.
Visitors are welcome to experience The Beach until September 7, 2015.
