Kim Jong-un Bans Mullets And Skinny Jeans In North Korea
- North Korea has issued an order banning mullets, skinny jeans and other fashion trends.
- Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un condemned and described them as signs of “capitalistic lifestyle.“
- The country “can become vulnerable and eventually collapse like a damp wall” if they embrace such trends, he added.
North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un has just prohibited mullet haircuts and skinny jeans. Apparently, the ban has been implemented to prevent “exotic and decadent” western fashion from spreading , saying the country could “fall like a damp wall” if they follow such trends.
In an article published by official government newspaper The Rondong Sinmun, we read that Kim, 37, said North Koreans need to “be wary of even the slightest sign of the capitalistic lifestyle and fight to get rid of them.”

He continued:
“History teaches us a crucial lesson that a country can become vulnerable and eventually collapse like a damp wall regardless of its economic and defense power if we do not hold on to our own lifestyle.”
According to reports, the communist regime has only approved 15 “non-socialist” hairstyles. Mullets, spiky, and dyed hair are no longer allowed in the country. Along with that, skinny jeans, branded shirts, nose and lip piercings have likewise been banned.

Of course, it should be noted that this isn’t exactly the first time North Korea has implemented a law against other trends. Case in point, K-pop and K-dramas from South Korea are also not permitted in the country.
For example, a propaganda website compared K-pop groups, such as BTS, to “slaves,” adding they are “robbed of their body, mind and soul by the heads of vicious and corrupt art-related conglomerates.”

Kim Yo Jong, Kim Jong Un’s sister, has earlier described defectors who send radios, Bibles, and other items to North Koreans as “human scum.”
“I would like to ask the South Korean authorities if they are ready to take care of the consequences of evil conduct done by the rubbish-like mongrel dogs who took no scruple to slander us while faulting the ‘nuclear issue’ in the meanest way at the most untimely time,” she told The Rondong Sinmun.
