Brazilian artist Rafael Mantesso has had a rough life. His wife left him – on his 30th birthday, no less. To make matters worse, she even took everything with her – from their furniture and appliances to their photos and kitchenware. There was nothing left for Rafael. Well, nothing except for Jimmy Choo, their pet bull terrier.
During this dark moment in his life, Rafael decided to do something productive to cheer himself up. He turned to his dog and to his love for art.
“With only Jimmy for company, I found inspiration in my blank walls and my best friend and started snapping photos of Jimmy Choo as he trotted and cavorted around the house in glee. When Jimmy collapsed in happy exhaustion next to the white wall, I grabbed a marker and drew a new world around my ginger-eared pup. Suddenly, I felt this long-dormant inspiration for drawing — for art, for life — returning.”
Rafael later started sharing Jimmy’s photos on Instagram and it eventually went viral. Now he has hundreds of thousands of followers.

Artist from 100 Years Ago Depicts A Very Interesting Vision of the Year 2000
Now those are some pretty awesome illustrations!
Remember the famous movie franchise 'Back to the Future'? It was released during the '80s and tried to depict how the future society would look like. For a movie trying to look far into the future, it sure got some things right.
But here's another interesting fact: Back in the 1899-1910s, French artist Jean-Marc Cote was asked to illustrate life in the year 2000. His artworks reflected how he imagined life about a hundred years ahead of his own time. The illustrations were found in the form of postcards and paper cards enclosed in cigarette boxes.
