  • Two Instagram influencers are hoping to go to Africa despite being unemployed.
  • The couple known as Cat and Eli decided to start a fundraiser begging their followers to raise more than $11,000 for the trip.
  • The two are now being criticized for the act, pointing out that the man’s mother is working to finance their lifestyle.

Some people will do just about anything to go on an amazing vacation. For a pair of Instagram influencers who are hoping to enjoy a trip to Africa, the solution is rather simple. They have asked their followers to raise more than $11,000 so they can take their vacation. Not surprisingly, netizens have slammed the couple on the internet.

Catalin ‘Cat’ Onc and Elena ‘Eli’ Engelhardt run the Instagram account Another Beautiful Day Official where they share photos of their travels. Although the account has more than 43,000 followers, the two are said to be struggling to make ends meet. Although Cat does not have a job, he and Eli are determined to go on an African adventure. This is why they decided to start a GoFundMe page asking people to fund their €10,000 ($11,215) trip.

Cat and Eli reportedly get by through Cat’s mother, who works two jobs to fund their lifestyle.

According to the page, the couple will be riding their bicycles from Germany to Africa. “The funds we raise will go towards the bike and gear, food and accommodation (when needed), internet and SIM cards in every country to keep you up to date, insurance, emergencies,” they wrote. Cat and Eli plan to leave on their adventure on July 20.

Interestingly, people are not impressed with the effort. Some have pointed out that the couple should “get a job” to pay for their own trip. Others even pointed out that Cat’s mother has to work two jobs just to support his lifestyle. However, they immediately defended their cause in an Instagram post.

“At this very moment we don’t have much, we are accepting money from my mother and also donations but we don’t hide that. This situation is teaching us a lot,” they wrote.

The couple’s GoFundMe has raised €322 ($361) since it was created in early June.
