This Shy Valedictorian Said Nine Words that Sent the Whole Class Wild
Colin Yost, the class valedictorian of Portsmouth High School in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, had always wanted to do a flash mob. When the chance to speak in front of more than 230 classmates came, Yost took the opportunity to execute a surprise flash mob set to Taylor Swift’s hit “Shake it Off”.
Speaking to MTV News, Yost said: “I’ve always wanted to do a flash mob and I thought graduation would be the perfect place because our class is very cohesive and doesn’t really have a lot of cliques.”
In his commencement speech, the aspiring heart surgeon urged the 2015 graduates to embrace their “inner nerd” and what better way to show it than to do some crazy dancing.
Ending his speech with the words “all you have to do it shake it off”, Yost signalled the graduating class to perform the massive flash dance with his rather awkward dancing.
Taylor’s hit is definitely addictive and we certainly can’t blame these students for choosing it as their graduation dance.
Watch the awesome graduation flash mob.
