Taking care of one’s skin normally takes a back seat when it comes to eating the right diet. But what you might forget is that eating the right types of foods actually has a big impact on the development of acne and even wrinkles. It’s not enough that you know which types of food to avoid, it is also essential that you know what to digest for clear, glowing, healthy skin.
#1. Whole Grains
Whole grains such as oats and brown rice are low-glycemic food that don’t spike up your blood sugar. Sadly, white bread, white flour, high-fructose corn syrup are high-glycemic which can cause a bad breakout. Avoid high sugar foods and increase your intake of low sugar foods if you want to decrease the number of zits on your face.
We already know that carrots are a good source of beta-carotene that helps prevent certain types of cancers and aside from this, they are also awesome in preventing wrinkle formation. The beta-carotene found in this vegetable can be converted to retinol that avoids the start of wrinkles.
Vitamin C that is found in oranges greatly combat sun damage that may harm your skin. According to dermatologist, Dr. Nagler:
“Vitamin C is required for the synthesis of collagen. Collagen and elastin maintain the skin’s structure and resilience, but UVA [radiation] causes the degradation of collagen and elastin, probably due to reactive oxygen species, which modify the collagen.”
#4. Olive Oil
This kitchen staple has been found to decrease photoaging in some patients. Photoaging is skin damage because of light. Olive oils helps prevent the effects of photoaging, aka wrinkles, and it also keeps your skin looking young and fresh.
Sardines and salmon that contain omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids help reduce inflammation and swelling of the skin. Omega-3 may also reduce therisk of certain cancers.
Now that you know what you can eat to attain perfect skin, it’s easier to accept the foods you have to avoid.
