Woman Gives Up New York Job To Raise Baby Goats With Special Needs
Leanne Lauricella recently made headlines for doing something fairly out of the ordinary – she gave up her job in New York so she could instead raise baby goats with special needs.
In an interview with Cosmopolitan, Leanne shared that she was no longer happy with her life as a career woman.
She said:
“I had a great job… but the commute was awful, the stress level was high… I was feeling completely unfulfilled and I knew there had to be something more.”
In 2014, she had the chance to visit a farm and discovered how much she loves baby goats.
This eventually inspired her to establish Goats of Anarchy, an organization that cares for orphaned and disabled goats.
A huge change, you say? It definitely was and, according to Leanne, she was “loving every minute of it.”
“It was clear that this was the lifestyle that I wanted,” Leanne shared.
“I decided to trade in the high heels for muck boots and my Mercedes for a classic Chevy pickup.”
Of course, her decision to leave a good-paying job was met by criticism but she doesn’t care about that at all.
“Some people have called me foolish or irresponsible for quitting my job without a plan, but for me, it was a leap of faith,” admitted Leanne.
On the first day after she resigned, however, she immediately gained 30,000 followers when Instagram shared one of her posts.
“I took this as a sign that I was on the right track.”
Clearly, Leanne is an example for all of us to pursue what makes us happy.
As she tells us:
“When you find and follow your passion, all of the silly things you thought were important, don’t seem so important anymore.”
