Perhaps you’ve heard of certain places that have become popular not because a lot of people have visited them, but because NO ONE is actually allowed to set foot in them. Of course, it’s human nature to get curious about things that are forbidden to us and the more these places are being talked about, the more we want to get there.
But we don’t always get what we want so we have to make do with pictures and other bits of information that we can get to satisfy our curiosity.
So here are some of the places on this planet that no one is allowed to visit.
#1. Snake Island in Brazil
Located off the coast of Sao Paolo is Ilha da Queimada Grande, also known as Snake Island. It’s the only place in the world where you can find the golden lancehead viper which is among the 4,000 species of the deadliest snakes on Earth. The serpent’s venom can eat flesh and tissue and the snake itself has a mortality rate of 7% without treatment and 3% with treatment. Understandably, the Brazilian government has banned people from going to this island.
#2. Fort Knox in Kentucky
It houses the country’s gold bullion reserve and other items considered as national treasures. Its security consists of 30,000 soldiers and lots of attack helicopters. The vault itself is protected by a 22-ton blast-proof door. Naturally, it is known to be one of the most secure places on the planet.
#3. The Svalbard Seed Vault in Norway
This seed bank holds the world’s largest collection of crop diversity and was built to stand the test of time. This fail-safe facility serves as backup storage for thousands of seed samples collected worlwide by genebanks. The Vault is built with permafrost and thick rock to make sure that the seeds will remain frozen even during power failure.
#4. The Vatican Library
It’s one of the biggest and most secretive libraries in the world housing priceless items from ancient Maya codices to books that serve as “proof” of alien contact. Only a few people have access to the library and its mysterious vaults.
#5. Data Center of Google
Considering that it holds trillions of records of data collected from people who use the internet, it’s a no-brainer that no one outside a select few from Google can have access to it.
#6. Area 51 in Nevada
It is one of the most protected and most secretive locations on the planet and understandably so – it is said to be the R&D base for experimental weaponry and aircraft of the U.S. Until 2013, the government has denied its existence. Others say that it’s really a base where they hide alien technology.
#7. Pine Gap in Australia
This is the Area 51 of Australia and operated by the government and the CIA. It is the only no-fly zone in the country and is said to house drone stripe programs.
#8. The Lascaux Caves in France
Inside the cave are ancient paintings that are reported to be more than 17,000 years old. It was created by humans and depict animals and striking geometric shapes. The French government has banned visitors starting in 1963 to protect the paintings.
#9. Mezhgorye in Russia
Russia and missiles are like coffee and cream so it’s not a surprise that they have Mezhgorye. It is a closed town in the Republic of Bashkortostan and is reported to house ballistic missiles that can be easily triggered remotely in the event of a nuclear strike. The base is permanently guarded by 2 battalions.
#10. The vault at Coca-Cola
