Many have resorted to lemon water after experts and celebrities swore to its benefits. However, just like anything else in the world, a little too much of something will cause more harm than good.

Although drinking lemon water will give you plenty of positive results, there are negative results as well. Here are six of them.

1. Damages teeth.

Adding a healthy fruit to your water may seem pretty harmless, but lemon is super acidic and could damage your tooth enamel. To avoid this, don’t drink lemon water very frequently, and others suggested to use a straw.

If you’re already suffering from ulcer, drinking a lot of lemon water will make it worse. There is also a possibility that you will develop Gastroesophageal reflux disease or GERD.

3. Lemon skins have unhealthy organisms in them such as E. Coli.

Candy is not the only one that causes tooth decay. As it turns out, your healthy concentrated lemon juice can lead to the cause too. Lemon water on its own will not give you cavities, but adding sugar in it and the concentrated one might ruin your teeth.

5. Worsens canker sores.

It’s quite normal to have a canker sore in your mouth. Although two weeks is the most for it to clear up, your lemon water routine might hinder the healing process. In fact, it will make it worse.

6. Could possibly trigger migraines.

Although it is still up for debate, previous studies discovered that there’s a connection between migraines and citrus fruits. So if you feel that your migraine is not getting any better despite taking your medications and going to the doctor, your lemon water might be to blame for it.
