Vacationing in the Maldives has always been fancy, but for those who still want to take it to the next level, Waldorf Astoria has something for you – a private island for a whopping $80,000 a night.

Private resorts are common in the Maldives, which is made up of 1,200 small islands. But Waldorf Astoria’s Ithaafushi is being marketed as the largest private island in the archipelago, spread out at more than 32,000 square meters.

So what do you get for $80,000 a night? There are three buildings on the island, which can accommodate 24 guests. There’s a two-bedroom overwater villa equipped with a shared living room, indoor and outdoor rain showers, infinity pool and Jacuzzi.

The three-bedroom beach villa has two swimming pools, while the four-bedroom villa has two king bedrooms, two queen bedrooms, a large common living area, and Jacuzzies. All buildings have direct access to the beach.

Ithaafushi features “refined yet modern” architecture and interiors “with a nod to Maldivian charm.” Oh, and you also get to have your own concierge team…a team, not just a one-person concierge. You also get your own dedicated culinary team who can whip up a bespoke menu and serve your meals in a variety of settings.

Now if you wish to dine elsewhere, you can take a short boat ride to the main Waldorf Astoria resort, which has 10 specialty dining venues.

The island offers watersports, diving and yacht trips, as well as a meditation and yoga pavilion. There’s also pool and gaming area for kids and of course, an overwater spa providing customized treatments courtesy of a dedicated wellness concierge.

Nils-Arne Schroeder, vice president of luxury and lifestyle for Waldorf Astoria parent company Hilton Asia Pacific, described the property as “designed for the most discerning of travelers.”

“The Ithaafushi – The Private Island is the epitome of exclusivity, perfectly placed within one of the most inspirational destinations in the world where a dedicated team anticipates every need and delivers the brand’s elegant and effortless service at every turn.”

The island is accessible from the international airport in capital Male via a 40-minute ride on one of the resort’s six yachts. For those who would rather go by air, there’s a 15-minute seaplane ride available.
