  • 33-year-old Jacob Chansley of Arizona is finally eating organic food while in prison.
  • He previously went on a hunger strike, saying he only eats “traditional food that has been made by God.”
  • An activist, however, pointed out that the dietary change is unfair to other prisoners since you typically “eat what they give you or you starve” while in jail.

Since being locked up in prison last moth, “QAnon Shaman” Jacob Chansley, 33, had gone on a hunger strike as he requested for organic food. He refused to eat non-organic food, citing religious reasons and adding that it made him sick.

Also known as Jake Angeli, Chansley said that he only consumes “traditional food that has been made by God,” meaning those that do not contain GMO’s, herbicides, artificial colors, and preservatives.

Arizona man Jacob Chansley went viral as he was spotted shirtless, wearing face paint and a head dress with horns during the US Capitol riot.

Meanwhile, his lawyer Al Watkins pointed out:

“Based on Mr Jacob Chansley’s shamanic belief system and way of life, non-organic food, which contains unnatural chemicals, would act as an ‘object intrusion’ onto his body and cause serious illness if he were to eat it.”

Chansley was initially imprisoned in the DC Jail but the judge ordered his transfer to the William G. Truesdale Adult Detention Center in Alexandria, Virginia where his request was fulfilled.

DC District Court Judge Royce Lamberth said:

“There is no doubt that Shamanism is a religion and that defendant requests a dietary accommodation based on that religion.”

Still, not everyone is happy about the judge’s decision.

For example, National Action Network founder Rev. Al Sharpton remarked:

“The fact that this man is given this kind of preference shows the double standard in the criminal justice system, and in the detention system.”

“In the state jails, you eat what they give you or you starve,” Sharpton further went on. “It is absolute punishment and punitive beyond the regardless for human rights and dignity. In federal, they have different protocols, and they ask if you have any dietary or religious preferences.”
