Being a parent is no easy thing. You have lots of responsibilities to juggle – from home chores and work stuff, to helping your kids with their homework and attending their soccer games, and many others.

Because of how busy we parents can be, there’s always that possibility that certain things might skip our minds from time to time. We’ve all been there – a forgotten appointment or an item from a grocery list, and many others. But could we ever forget about our own children? Most of us probably won’t but one mother recently did and she made headlines for it.

According to reports, a commercial plane bound to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia had to turn back to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia after one female passenger informed the cabin crew that she left her baby in the terminal.

So eventually, the pilot had to make the strange request to return to the King Abdulaziz airport shortly after it took off. The video showing the conversation between the pilot and air traffic control went viral on social media and netizens everywhere have had mixed reactions about it.

In the said footage, the pilot can be heard asking “May God be with us. Can we come back?”

“This flight is requesting to come back,” one of the air traffic operators told a colleague, “a passenger forgot her baby in the waiting area, the poor thing.”

The pilot confirmed “I told you, a passenger has left her baby in the terminal and she is refusing to continue the flight.”

The flight was eventually granted the permission to return to the airport by the air traffic controllers who told the pilot:

“OK, head back to the gate. This is totally a new one for us.”

Some netizens mocked the unnamed mother for being neglectful, suggesting she might be “too busy with Snapchat” that’s why she forgot about her own child. Others, however, defended her and told commenters not to be quick to judge because “we don’t know the situation and what she may be going through.”

The good news, of course, is that the mother and the baby got reunited soon, thanks to the efforts of the pilot and his crew.
