  • Aditya Singh, 36, has been arrested after living in a secure area at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.
  • Singh has been staying there for the past 3 months before he was detected.
  • He was reportedly “scared to go home due to Covid.”

A man from California has recently been arrested after authorities discovered that he has been staying at the O’Hare International Airport for the past three months. According to him, he’s just too afraid to take his flight because of coronavirus.

Apparently, 36-year-old Aditya Singh has been living in the airport undetected. He has since been charged with “felony criminal trespass to a restricted area of an airport and misdemeanor theft,” a report said.

Aditya Singh arrived at the airport last October 2020 from a Los Angeles flight.

Two United Airlines employees eventually asked Singh for his identification and then he showed them an airport ID badge that belonged to an operations manager who has been missing since October 26.

Authorities were immediately alerted and they since took Singh into custody. Assistant State Attorney Kathleen Hagerty shared that Singh was “scared to go home due to COVID.” Other passengers gave him free food.

Cook County Judge Susana Ortiz couldn’t believe the story and remarked:

“So if I understand you correctly, you’re telling me that an unauthorized, non-employee individual was allegedly living within a secure part of the O’Hare airport terminal from Oct. 19, 2020 to Jan. 16, 2021 and was not detected? I want to understand you correctly.”

Investigations later revealed that Singh lived with his roommates in Orange, California. He also did not have any criminal background.

“The court finds these facts and circumstances quite shocking for the alleged period of time that this occurred,” the judge said. “Being in a secured part of the airport under a fake ID badge allegedly, based upon the need for airports to be absolutely secure so that people feel safe to travel, I do find those alleged actions do make him a danger to the community.”
