Keanu Reeves Dethrones ‘Avengers: Endgame’ With ‘John Wick 3’ Amazing $57 Million Opening Weekend

Keanu Reeves has once again proven that he can take on anyone, even a bunch of superheroes. John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum has defeated Avengers: Endgame in the domestic box office with an amazing $57 million opening weekend. WARNING: Major spoilers ahead from John Wick 3 so proceed with caution.

John Wick 3 finally hit theaters on Friday, May 19, and fans immediately lined up to watch Reeves’ latest action film. Not surprisingly, the movie earned $57.02 million during its opening weekend, beating Avengers: Endgame which only took in $29 million on the same weekend. The third John Wick film effectively ended the reign on Endgame as the top grossing film in the domestic box office since its April 26 premiere.

John Wick 3 follows the retired assassin (Reeves) as he tries to escape New York after being declared “excommunicado” by his former handlers at the High Table and placed under a $14 million bounty. However, there appears to be so much more happening as John is given a new mission that sends him straight back to Manhattan.

The movie concludes with John being betrayed by the Continental’s owner Winston. Although Winston and the Adjudicator believe that John is dead, he is rescued by the Bowery King who wants to wage war on the High Table. Not surprisingly, John agrees to join the fight.

If you’re wondering if the film’s conclusion hinted at yet another movie, you’ve guessed right. John Wick 4 has already been confirmed and is scheduled for release on May 21, 2021.

Can’t get enough of the world of John Wick? There have been reports that a spin-off TV series is being developed and is set to begin filming later this year.

The Continental will focus on a mysterious guest at the hotel and his journey to becoming an assassin. It has been said that Reeves will also appear in the show as a special guest star.
