  • It has coordinates etched in it, which points to New York, Cairo, and Northern Mariana Islands.

On Thursday, a monolith three meters tall was found in the suburbs of Adelaide. This now makes Australia a part of the worldwide monolith mystery. What sets this apart from the structures that appeared in other parts of the world: it has coordinates etched in it, which points to New York, Cairo, and Northern Mariana Islands.

The three-sided monolith is the first in Australia and was sighted near the Seaford Train bridge in Noarlunga. What makes it even more baffling is the supposed coordinates engraved on the structure’s body, which points to several locations across the globe.

One of the coordinates directs to a brownstone building in Brooklyn, New York while the second one points to Managaha, an inhabited island in the Northern Mariana Islands. The last coordinate directs to The Sphinx in Egypt’s Al Giza Desert.

The Onkaparinga Council is currently investigating the origins of the monolith.

A day before the Adelaide monolith was discovered, two others were spotted in Poland – one on the banks of the Vistula river in Warsaw and another in the southern city of Kielce.

The seemingly random appearances of these monoliths has baffled people from all over the world. The first one was spotted at the Utah desert on November 18 and the news quickly became viral.

Other appearances include the UK, with the monolith seen on the top of a hill in Glastonbury. This one has a stencil drawing of a rat, similar to the style of street artist Banksy.

Another one is on the Isle of Wight, which was later attributed to designer Tom Dunford, who admitted to installing the monolith as a tribute to others around the world.

These monoliths also appeared in Germany, Spain, and Belgium.

The origins of most of these structures remain a mystery. As per people’s speculations, the monoliths could have been erected by aliens, created by artists, or all are part of a wide-scale marketing gimmick.
