The Superbug Resistant to Last-Resort Antibiotics Has Just Been Isolated in Humans
For the first time, the colistin-resistant E. coli strain has been isolated in a person in the United States.
Scientists reported the significant finding in a study published in the journal Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy of the American Society for Microbiology. The superbug, which was isolated from the urine of a 49-year old woman from Pennsylvania, is a cause for alarm for public health.
