- According to the doctor, coronavirus can bring long-term effects for its survivors.
- Post-Covid lungs often have a lot of white dense scarring, said Dr Bankhead-Kendall.
A female doctor recently shared something that many netizens found quite shocking: Covid-19 survivors’ lungs look more damaged than those of smokers.
According to Dr. Brittany Bankhead-Kendall, an assistant professor at Texas Tech University Health Scientists Center, “post-Covid lungs” tend to “collapse” and “clot off.” And they look worse than “terrible smokers’ lungs.”

In a post on Twitter, the surgeon wrote:
“I don’t know who needs to hear this, but ‘post-Covid’ lungs look worse than ANY type of terrible smoker’s lungs we’ve ever seen. And they collapse. And they clot off. And the shortness of breath lingers on… & on… & on.”
Dr. Bankhead-Kendall has been treating thousands of coronavirus patients since March last year. Now she’s warning the public about the long-term effects of the dreaded disease.
Her post eventually gained a lot of attention online and it didn’t take long before news sources came knocking.
Those who contract and survive the disease are going to have problems, according to the surgeon.

In a media interview, the doctor pointed out that people are often talking about the Covid deaths but remain oblivious about the virus’ other effects.
She said:
“Everyone’s just so worried about the mortality thing and that’s terrible and it’s awful. But man, and all the survivors and the people who have tested positive – it’s going to be a problem.”
Dr. Bankhead-Kendall further explained:
“You’ll either see a lot of that white dense scarring or you’ll see it throughout the entire lung. And if you’re not feeling problems now the fact that that’s on your chest X-ray It sure is indicative of you possibly having problems later on.”
