Just after six days of treatment in Wuhan, centenarian Zhang Guangfen was able to survive the coronavirus was discharged from the hospital. She is the oldest patient of the virus to get cured, two years older than the another centenarian patient, who is 101 years old.

According to the local press, Zhang “did not have many underlying health conditions.” She was diagnosed on March 1 and was admitted at Liyuan Affiliated Hospital of Tongji Medical College in Wuhan, Hubei Province.

Zhang was in critical condition when admitted to the hospital. She had to be spoon-fed and her diaper changed by the nurses.
She was administered round-the-clock care and given nutrition therapy sessions.

The hospital reported that Zhang loved being complimented by the nurses and would smile when told how pretty she looks.

The other centenarian also recovered after getting a week-long treatment at the hospital. Reports said that the patient, whose surname is Dai, was already discharged from the facility.

China has recently encouraged its citizens to resume normal living after the country has recorded a steady decline in coronavirus cases. Chinese President Xi Jinping was recently at Wuhan, his first time to visit the city since its emergence as the center of the outbreak.

Given that the President was allowed to go to the province, it’s a sign that the country believes that they already have the outbreak under control.

The coronavirus has killed almost 3200 people in the country. Worldwide, the disease has already claimed 4,325 lives. Almost 120,000 people have already been infected, affecting dozens of countries including South Korea, Italy, and Iran.

In the UK, there are already 382 cases confirmed. Six people have already died. Most of these cases originated from visitors who have been recently to Italy or from people who became infected inside the UK since the outbreak in Italy began.
