Feeling the urge to go on a safari to South Africa but don’t exactly have enough time or resources to do so? If you happen to be in London for a vacation, or simply a Londoner just wanting to scratch off that safari trip on your bucket list, just head to London’s Southbank.

Virgin Holidays built a 35-foot South African tree house that overlooks the river Thames. Lucky Londoners who happen to be in the area just need to drop by central London to view the awesome tree house. The catch: the installation was only available for a week and it would be a real bummer if people missed this amazing and jaw dropping sight.

The tree house which is situated in central London, features a private balcony, fabulous views of the whole city and even a personal chef. Only the area surrounding the tree house is available to the public, as the main site is only accessible to a lucky few who won an overnight stay (yes, an overnight stay) from a Virgin Holiday contest.
The small space offers a feel of South Africa that happens to include a six-course degustation meal that includes a crocodile, ostrich and erm, deep fried worms. The winners of the contest get to stay overnight in the tree house and wake up to the wonderful view of the Thames. The interiors of the home feature tribal prints and several home furnishings such as African sculptures.

Not everyone is lucky enough to actually get the chance to go to South Africa and enjoy its stunning sights so it was quite a treat having this unique installation placed in one of the most visited cities in Europe, London. It was a welcome respite after the series of bad news that have befallen the city. If you happen to be one of the tourists who were able to witness this amazing sight, do us a favor and send us a photo or two.
