- The Nintendo Switch game is set for an October 16 release.
As part of the 35th anniversary celebration of the first Super Mario Bros. video game, Nintendo has officially unveiled a new title called “Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit.”
This awesome new game for the Nintendo Switch console transforms your home “into a Mario Kart course of your design,” according to the gaming company’s website.
As shown in the promotional video below, the game uses augmented reality technology, combining an actual remote-controlled go-kart with a virtual race track for an enjoyable racing experience for gamers of all ages.
Nintendo further tells us:
“Control a real-life Mario Kart with Nintendo Switch and watch it come to life in the game! Race a real-world Mario Kart through your home! Use the Nintendo Switch system to control your kart and watch as it reacts to what’s happening in the game as you boost and drift to victory. Your in-home course comes to life on-screen with a view from right behind the driver’s seat.”
Meanwhile, Velan Studios CEO Karthik Bala said in a statement:
“We invented the initial mixed reality hardware and game prototype to really nail the exhilaration of racing in the real world with the play and feel of a video game.
“We showed the experience to Nintendo and were thrilled they saw its potential.”
The game is scheduled to launch this October 16, offering two choices for gamers – Mario or Luigi.
