Even in marriages, there are certain things that we would want to keep as a secret from our other half. For one married couple in Guilin, Guangxi, China, this secret turned out to be a vase full of cash!
A wife wasn’t thrilled at first when she heard a crash coming from the family’s living room. Upon heading to the living room to investigate, it was confirmed that her daughter, who was doing her morning stretch at the time, had accidentally broken a vase. But the story didn’t end there.
The woman said:
“I was sitting in my bed and suddenly, I heard a loud sound coming from the living room. I quickly jumped out of bed and ran outside. Then I saw the broken vase with a lot of money in it. I texted my husband and asked him to come back. His facial expression changed when he stepped into the house.”
After seeing the money from the broken vase, her husband admitted that he has been using the vase to keep all his secret savings. He started his secret savings back in 2006 when they first bought the house. So the man had been keeping this a secret for 13 long years.
“I saved this money from eating noodles. I don’t know what to feel now.”
In total, the money added up to around 5,000 yuan, the equivalent of around US$740, all in small bills. Luckily for the man, the wife wasn’t angry with the revelation. In fact, she found the whole thing hilarious.
“After more than ten years, he only saved a few thousand Yuan, that’s so funny!”
He certainly wouldn’t be the first spouse to keep a secret stash of money, as countless stories pop up across the globe of spouses ferreting away chunks of change in secret bank accounts and offshore holdings. In some extreme cases, there have been spouses that hide entire homes and properties from their families.
