  • Kit Harington has been confirmed to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
  • The ‘Game of Thrones’ star was cast as Dane Whitman/Black Knight in the upcoming Marvel film ‘The Eternals’.
  • This means that Harington will be reunited with his ‘GOT’ co-star Richard Madden, who has also been cast in the MCU flick.

It’s a reunion that every Game of Thrones fan has been waiting for since the show’s first season. Jon Snow is about to reunite with Robb Stark in the big screen. Kit Harington has been cast in the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick The Eternals, which will also star Richard Madden.

The announcement of Kit Harington’s casting was made during the D23 Expo 2019 at Anaheim, California. Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed that the Game of Thrones star will play Dane Whitman in the upcoming movie, which already boasts of a cast that includes former co-star Richard Madden, Angelina Jolie and Salma Hayek.

The cast of ‘The Eternals’ at D23

There have been previous reports indicating that Kit Harington was in negotiations to appear in a Marvel movie although the project was not revealed. Luckily, the casting was confirmed at D23.

In the comic books, The Eternals are a race of powerful humanoids who were created by the Celestials to be the defenders of Earth. Richard Madden will play the Eternal named Ikaris while Kit Harington was cast as the human hero Dane Whitman a.k.a. Black Knight.

Harington and Madden in the first episode of ‘Game of Thrones’

Kit Harington and Richard Madden first worked together on the first season of Game of Thrones. Their characters Jon Snow and Robb Stark were only seen together in the first and second episodes. Before Jon’s departure for the Night’s Watch, Robb commented that the next time they would see each other, Jon would be “all in black.” Interestingly, that’s exactly what’s going to happen in The Eternals.

The Eternals also stars Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Gemma Chan as Sersi, and Barry Keoghan as Druig. The film is scheduled for release on November 6, 2020.
