People have been poring over the premiere episode of Game of Thrones Season 8 in hopes that there would be clues on how the series will end. Interestingly, fans believe they have found a hint at Daenerys Targaryen getting a fourth dragon in the final season.
Daenerys is currently down to only two dragons after Viserion was killed (and then resurrected) by the Night King in the previous season. However, some believe that the opening credits of Game of Thrones Season 8 teased on the possibility that the Mother of Dragons will be getting another child before the HBO show concludes next month.
One fan had pointed out that the astrolabe in the opening credits features four dragons instead of just three. Not surprisingly, this has led to speculations that a fourth dragon is on the way.
However, the astrolabe might actually depict an old story that happened in the first season. It shows a bigger dragon with three smaller ones as well as a comet. The image actually appears to depict Daenerys giving life to the three petrified dragon eggs as a comet appeared in the sky in the Game of Thrones Season 1 finale.
The comet last appeared in the Season 1 episode ‘Fire And Blood’.
So is the idea of a fourth dragon completely impossible? Some fans are pointing out that Dany’s dragons might hatch some eggs of their own. However, the most plausible theory is still the possibility of Daenerys becoming pregnant with Jon Snow’s child and thus giving birth to another Targaryen. After all, the Targaryens are also known as dragons, aren’t they?
Will a baby make three Targaryens in the final season?
People have been wondering if Dany and Jon will eventually have a child considering that their relationship has been consummated gratuitously in the previous season finale. A baby doesn’t seem like a good idea at the moment since the White Walker army is about to invade Winterfell. However, it wouldn’t be a huge shocker if the pregnancy is revealed in future episodes.
Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 2 will premiere on HBO on April 21.
