What are the chances that you and your future spouse were born on the same day and same hospital? It may sound like nothing more than a good plot for a romantic movie but yes, that’s the reality for a couple who’s set to tie the knot really soon.

Tom Maguire and Shauna Gracey were both born December 22, 1992, just hours away from each other, in the now closed Billinge Hospital in Wigan, Greater Manchester. She was 13 weeks premature.

The two eventually met in 2010 when a mutual friend introduced them at an event and he quickly fell in love with her. Shauna was wearing a Minnie Mouse costume while Tom was rocking a ninja outfit.

Although he made repeated efforts to reach out, Shauna initially wasn’t interested and even told him to leave her alone. After two months, “two crossed paths again on a night out and ended up sharing a drunken kiss,” said an article.

It was only until April 2011 when Tom finally won her heart and they became ‘official.’ Now they’re ready to take their fairy tale of a relationship to the next level by getting married in their hometown church.

Shauna shared:

“From the get go Tom was so keen. He was adamant we were going to be together and would tell me he loved me.

“I told him that were were just friends and that we would never end up together, I just wasn’t interested.

“But one night we were out and I just looked over and saw him and thought, ‘Oh my God I really like him’.

“We’ve been together eight years now and I couldn’t be happier, he really is one in a million.

“Now more than ever I feel like it was fate that we met.”

She also said:

“I think it’s so nice that we were born on the same day in the same place.

“I love telling people and seeing their reactions.”

Tom proposed to her in October 2016 during a romantic getaway in Rome.

“The story of how we met is definitely weird,” he said. “I think all the funny coincidences make the relationship that extra bit special, definitely. People we speak to about it love to hear the story.”
