Brave Cashier Fights Off Gun- Wielding Robber Using Her Bare Hands

Convenience store robberies are roughly 6% of all stealing cases reported to the police in the U.S., although the rate has dropped down since 1980 these problems have been going on for years.

Convenience stores, which most of the time hold a large amount of money, usually have low security and few personnel thus put them on the “easy target” list of robbers.

According to POP Center, there are more than 135,000 convenience stores operating in the U.S. and about 100 million Americans drop by their stores everyday at any given time to purchase products and avail services since it is convenient with their busy lives.

There have been a growing number of robbery incidents wherein the store clerks are fighting back against the thieves.

In the video, Bhumika Patel was the one manning the cash register at the convenience store in Keysville Georgia. Suddenly, a customer entered the store and got a can of soft drinks. He walked towards the cashier and started paying for the item; abruptly he pulled out a gun and pointed it to Bhumika.

Bhumika strongly argued with the thief and fought him with her hands. She tried pulling the gun away from the man and started hitting him; she even grabbed a hammer and tried to run after the robber.

The cashier really did a great job in defending herself and protecting the cash. Luckily, she didn’t get hurt. The robber’s plan failed big time!

Donald Henne, former NYPD detective bureau lieutenant commander said,

“Although you’re lashing out at them and you think you’re doing the right thing, you’re putting innocent people and yourself in harm’s way.

The best thing to do if you are caught in the crossfire is to remain calm and not try to be a hero.”

It’s best to be observant at all times. If you find something suspicious have a presence of mind, never initiate aggression. If you are threatened then comply with the robber’s demand and try to remember all the details so you can report later. One false move can cost a life, so protect yourself and the people around you by being calm and alert.
