6 Signs That You Are A Bad Partner Without Even Knowing It

Most people do everything that they can to make a relationship work. However, it’s never as simple as it seems. You probably believe that you are doing a great job at being the perfect partner. Unfortunately, your significant other might beg to differ.

There are several factors that could lead to being a bad partner in a relationship. Whether you are being too absorbed with your phone or simply refusing to express your emotions, you might be the reason why the relationship isn’t going so smoothly. Here are six tell-tale signs that reveal you are being a horrible partner without even knowing it.

#1. You point out all of your partner’s little mistakes

Sure, it’s annoying when your boyfriend chews too loudly or hogs all of the covers. However, your criticism about the clothes they wear or the music they listen to might be sabotaging the relationship.

It’s important to remember that it’s not healthy to try and control your partner. If you’re trying to change the way they look, it might be a sign that your relationship is too one-sided.

#2. You don’t express your feelings when you’re upset with them.

While it’s wrong to keep criticizing everything that your partner does, it’s even worse when you don’t tell them how you truly feel. You might think you’re keeping the peace but bottling up all those emotions is unhealthy.

Make sure to express how you feel if your partner has done something to upset you. This way, they are aware of their errors and you don’t have to hide all your emotions.

#3. You’re always hanging around them even when they are with friends.

It’s nice that you’re getting along with your partner’s friends but always tagging along with them is a bad sign. After all, it’s a sign that you’re getting too clingy and codependent.

Codependency is the key to making a relationship work. However, it’s also best to allow your partner some independence.

#4. You always have to win an argument.

There’s nothing wrong with having the last word if you know you’re right. But are you actually right or do you just want to overpower them?

Winning an argument is not the important thing when it comes to relationship. You and your partner need to agree on something so try to listen to what they have to say and compromise.

#5. You never let your partner get an “off” day.

Sometimes your partner might be having a bad day at work and wants to get some support from you. If you’re the type to tell them to cheer up and get over it, you’re the bad partner.

Take time to console your partner when they are feeling down. It will strengthen your relationship and help you become a better partner.

#6. You never put your phone away even on date night.

You might be waiting for an important email or message but always being on your phone is still a bad sign. This means you don’t actually have a real connection with each other or their presence simply isn’t as entertaining.

Put your phone away when you’re on a date and have a conversation. It’s a small step to becoming a great partner with a lasting relationship.
