They say “God works in mysterious ways” and Mykehia Curry can attest to this line firsthand. The story of the Georgia teen quickly made national headlines after she wrote a letter to God asking for His help for her dorm supplies and college tuition.

According to reports, the 18-year-old’s mom is disabled and so money has been tight. Instead of giving up, she asked God for help just days before she was scheduled to leave for school.

Curry says she wrote a letter to God, attached it to some balloons, and sent it toward the heavens. Although she was hoping for a miracle, she already assumed that no one would ever read it.

The note reads:

“God help me go to college. God this is me again, please help me get everything I need to leave Wednesday. I love you, Amen.”

“I am the first one in my family to go to college, and I’m doing this so my little brother can have a better life. I have a 7-year-old little brother,” said Curry.

The balloons flew about 15 miles northeast and was found by Baptist minister Jerome Jones.

He said:

“I saw something shiny and floating, so I walked over there, and I got it, and it was balloons with a note tied to it. They floated all night, and they landed right in my hands, I mean, practically.”

“It was beautiful. It’s kind of hard to explain. She was like, ‘Is this mine for real?’ and I said, ‘It’s yours. God answers prayers,’” Jones said.

After tracking her down at her Macon home, he delivered a mini-fridge and comforter to Curry’s doorstep. He planned on staying in touch with Curry and told her to call him if she ever needs anything else.
