  • Pope Francis has criticized protesters who are against wearing masks and are openly opposing Covid-19 restrictions.
  • According to the pope, these people are stuck “in their own little world of interests” as they never go on protest when it comes to other important issues.
  • The pope likewise took time to praise those working to keep the public safe amidst the coronavirus crisis.

Pope Francis has recently taken it upon himself to slam those protesting against the mandate to wear masks and are even against lockdown restrictions, saying these people are stuck “in their own little world of interests.”

In an upcoming biographical book that will be published next month, the Roman Catholic pontiff was interviewed and he offered his views regarding those who are going against implemented public safety measures amidst the Covid-19 pandemic.

Pope Francis said:

“Some groups protested, refusing to keep their distance, marching against travel restrictions – as if measures that governments must impose for the good of their people constitute some kind of political assault on autonomy or personal freedom.”

He likewise added:

“You’ll never find such people protesting the death of George Floyd, or joining a demonstration because there are shantytowns where children lack water or education, or because there are whole families who have lost their income.

“On such matters, they would never protest; they are incapable of moving outside of their own little world of interests.”

The said book, entitled Let Us Dream: The Path to a Better Future, will mostly feature the pope’s thoughts about 2020 issues and the coronavirus crisis.

Pope Francis was also quick to praise those working hard to keep the general public safe.

“With some exceptions, governments have made great efforts to put the wellbeing of their people first, acting decisively to protect health and to save lives,” he pointed out.
