McDonald’s has left some fans disappointed with its April Fools’ Day prank. When the chain posted a video of a new burger, the McPickle, on social media, claiming that it would it on its menu in Australia, many believed it.

The newly-created offering was supposed to be filled with plenty of pickles, lined between layers of melted cheese, and packed into a sesame seed bun. While others were glad it wasn’t true, some were outraged the burger wasn’t actually available to buy.

In the April Fools’ Day prank video posted on its Australian social media account, McDonald’s wrote:

“Pickle lovers, it’s the news you’ve all been waiting for. We’re super stoked to announce the launch of our brand new McPickle Burger. It’s time to tuck into juicy, flavorsome pickles layered between melted cheese, ketchup sauce, and toasted sesame seed buns. It’s sure to be a treat for all your senses.”

The fast-food giant then added the hashtags, #dailynuggets, #mcpickle, #pickleoverload, #maccas, and #imlovinit.

Although some netizens knew it was a joke, other pickle fanatics believed it was a genuine menu expansion.

As we all know by now, it was just a prank meant for April Fools’ Day and the McPickle will not be available for sale. However, a lot of fans were really excited about the new burger and couldn’t wait to try it. So when they found out that it was just a “cruel” joke, they were pretty upset.

Some of the comments read:

“Oh, s*** it’s April 1st…”

“Omfg if this is April fools joke imma be mad.”

“Cruel this isn’t real.”

In response to all the fuss, McDonald’s said:

“We know there’s a lot of love out there for our famous pickles, and the McPickle Burger has certainly got people talking about them. We’re glad Australians have enjoyed our April Fools’ joke!”
