Sure, Kim Jong-Un impersonators aren’t exactly new. We’ve seen a lot of these pranksters around but if there’s one thing that sets this guy apart from others, it’s probably his bold attempt to pull his stunt in front of North Koreans themselves.

This recently happened during the Winter Olympics in Gangneung, South Korea. To everyone’s surprise, a look-alike of the supreme leader danced in front of Pyongyang’s cheerleaders. Their reaction, you say? Well they weren’t exactly thrilled!

During the games, North Korea and South Korea played as one team. He came to the venue waving a flag before a group of men later arrived to get him out of the scene.

His appearance definitely caused an uproar.

Washington Post’s Vincent Bevins saw the commotion and described what happened.

He wrote:

“Police have now surrounded and asked the apparent impersonator to come with him, he says his name’s Howard, was just cheering and looks like this, and didn’t commit any crime. Refuses to go with them. South Korea police apparently unsure what to do.

“He speaks English with UK accent, no Korean. They’ve now told him he broke a rule against making political statements.”

Meanwhile, the impersonator defended he wasn’t attempting to make any political statement at all.

Howard said:

“I just showed up with my flag and my face… If you don’t like my face there’s nothing you can do about it, I was born this way.”

Still, cops pulled him away from the crowd “for his own safety”.
