The sudden change of pace in the final season of Game of Thrones has certainly shocked people. Interestingly, fans have already started a petition asking HBO to rewrite the entire Season 8 and have it produced all over again.

The petition was started after Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 4 aired and has been gaining momentum after the premiere of the final season’s penultimate episode The Bells. Not surprisingly, people have started agreeing with the petition after Daenerys Targaryen goes on a rampage and burns down King’s Landing. As of writing, the petition asking to “remake Game of Thrones Season 8 with competent writers” already has more than 936,000 signatures from enraged fans.

Almost 1 million fans have given their signature to the petition.

The petition, which was started by Dylan D. and is reaching out to HBO, points out that the current Game of Thrones executive producers are incapable of coming up with a proper storyline for the show.

“David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on.

“This series deserves a final season that makes sense.

“Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!” it reads.

In the fifth episode of Game of Thrones Season 8, Daenerys Targaryen ultimately attacks King’s Landing to take the Iron Throne. The city surrendered by ringing the bells, something that Dany ignores as she orders her dragon to burn down the capital.

Daenerys destroys King’s Landing in the episode ‘The Bells’.

Several fans have argued that Daenerys’ actions were out of character although others believed that the sack of King’s Landing was foreshadowed in the past seasons. Either way, this hasn’t stopped people from signing the petition in an effort to have the entire final season rewritten and remade.

Are you unhappy with Game of Thrones Season 8? You can sign the petition here. However, it is best to remember that it will not change anything and fans will need to accept how the series will conclude.

The last episode of Game of Thrones will air on HBO on May 19.
