It’s finally over. The Battle of Winterfell has been fought and the living has won, thanks to an unexpected move from one of the main characters. But is it possible that Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3 also teased on what will happen in the future? Did The Long Night reveal how Cersei Lannister’s story will end in the final season?
The third episode of Game of Thrones Season 8 mostly covered the great war against the Night King’s army. However, there were also several key moments that may help move the story further after the battle. One of these scenes was an interesting throwback to a previous season where a prophecy may have been secretly revealed. WARNING: This article contains major Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3 spoilers! Turn back now if you haven’t seen The Long Night yet.
In the third episode, Arya Stark found herself reunited with Melisandre, who had arrived at Winterfell before the battle began. Arya immediately recognized the Red Woman and remembered what Melisandre once told her back in Season 3.
In The Climb, Melisandre told Arya she would shut many eyes forever, brown eyes, green eyes, and blue eyes. Once the prophecy is recalled in The Long Night, Arya immediately set out to take on the Night King (and effectively defeat him) at Godswood.
So how is this all connected to Cersei? Fans were quick to point out that the current Queen of the Seven Kingdoms has green eyes.
Of course, Cersei isn’t the only person in Westeros with green eyes. However, she still happens to be in Arya’s list right now. It wouldn’t be a surprise if Game of Thrones is teasing that Arya will be the one to kill Cersei, and not her own brothers.
Cersei Lannister is already set to face the survivors in Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 4. Find out if her fate has been decided on May 5.
