It’s always amazing when old people learn new technology. Most often than not, the results tend to be pretty adorable, if not downright hilarious.

Remember that cool father who went viral after taking selfies with his pet dogs and sheep? That man won the internet after netizens were captivated with his photos. He immediately became a viral sensation.

Now we’ve got another senior citizen making waves at social media and this time, it’s a grandmother from the Land of the Rising Sun.

Kimiko Nishimoto is a grandmother from Japan who learned photography when she was 72 – and she’s obviously having a blast!

Currently 89 years of age, Kimiko picked up photography about 17 years ago when she enrolled at a beginner’s course. Her son was the instructor at the said class and she decided to enroll just for kicks.

Unknown to her, it will “awake a passion and a talent she never even knew she had,” Bored Panda wrote in a recent feature. She immediately fell in love with the medium and sought out to have as much fun with it.

Kimiko later became popular for her funny self-portraits.

Ten years later, she had her first solo exhibition at a local museum in Kumamato. She has since gained fans because of her unique concepts and now she’s even attracting greater attention after her photos made it to social media.

As we’ve also learned, Kimiko is set to showcase her work at the Epson epsite imaging gallery. The exhibition will be called “Asobokane” which literally means “let’s play”. If you’re visiting Japan anytime soon, this is definitely something you wouldn’t want to miss so be sure to check it out. Otherwise, you may instead hop over to her website.
