  • Joseph Grisamore has officially made it to Guinness World Records 2021 edition.
  • After several attempts, the man from Minnesota has successfully set the world record for the tallest mohawk.

Achieving a world record is definitely no easy feat and for one man from Minnesota, it meant growing and taking care of his hair for many years.

Meet Joseph Grisamore who officially made it to Guinness World Records 2021 because of his unique hairstyle. He currently holds the record of the world’s tallest mohawk which measures 42.5 inches in height.

In a Guinness feature, Joseph shared:

“My favorite thing about the mohawk is just the rarity of it. I’ll admit that peoples’ reactions are pretty priceless too. I’m 6’1 tall, and my mohawk is pushing 4 feet now.”

Of course, things can be a big challenging if you have a massive mohawk.

“Doors aren’t over 7′ tall, ceilings 9′, and cars are impossible to get into – so I’m limited to where and how I move around when I’m all done up, but the crowd usually comes to me,” he confessed.

It took Joseph a lot of preparation before he made it to Guinness.

In 2007, Joseph initially wanted to set the world record but didn’t like the idea of shaving off the sides of his hair – which was a requirement for the record.

Eventually, he had to regrow his hair. It took him another seven years and his hair later exceeded 4 feet in length.

“When I was first informed that I’d become a Guinness World Records title holder, I was over the top. Having a goal become a reality is always a thankful experienc,” said Joseph. “I’m honored to be added to a list of one-of-a-kind record holders. My wife wants me to stay humble, but instead I’m considering becoming the ‘Mohawk King’, and attempting the tallest mohawk spike title, which is how I’d begun my journey with record-breaking in 2007.”
