If you loved Chris Hemsworth’s ‘Extraction’ movie, here’s a good news for you: a sequel is officially in the works!

In a Deadline exclusive, we learn that screenplay writer Joe Russo has sealed a deal with Netflix for a new instalment for the action movie. At the moment, it remains to be seen whether director Sam Hargrave and actor Chris Hemsworth, who plays Tyler Rake, will return for the sequel. But that probably won’t be a problem, considering how the violent action film has been extremely well-received by fans and critics alike.

“The deal is closed for me to write Extraction 2,” confirmed Joe in a Deadline interview. “We’re not committing yet to whether that story goes forward, or backward in time. We left a big loose ending that leaves question marks for the audience.”

Meanwhile, a DigitalSpy report tells us that Extraction is headed to break a huge Netflix record. Apparently, the movie is “well on its way to becoming the biggest-ever film premiere on the service, with 90 million households projected to watch it in its first four weeks,” wrote the website.

Hemsworth has previously expressed interest in doing another Extraction film.

In an Instagram video, the Australian star said:

“There’s been a lot of talk and questions about sequels and prequels and all sorts of things. And all I can say is — who knows? But with this amount of support, it’s something I will be pretty stoked to jump back into.”
