Crocheting is a hobby that we usually associate with grandmothers who love making doilies and clothes for their grandchildren. However, a little boy is changing the age-old stigma. The 11-year-old has gone viral for being called a “crocheting prodigy.”

Jonah Larson is only 11 years old but he has truly risen above the odds. He was born in Ethiopia and was adopted by a loving family in La Crosse, Wisconsin. At the age of five, he took an interest in crocheting through YouTube videos and was soon creating mittens, blankets, and table runners. Today, Jonah has truly mastered the craft and is hoping to share his skills with the rest of the world.

Meet Jonah, a future doctor and current ‘crocheting prodigy’.

Jonah’s awesome creations can be purchased through Jonah’s Hands, the online business that was started by his mother Jennifer. However, Jennifer limits the number of orders they take since Jonah still needs time for school.

Although he is being called a “crocheting prodigy”, there is so much more to Jonah than just a boy who knows how to crochet. He reportedly skipped a grade since he tested high on an IQ test. Jonah is currently in sixth grade and admits that he wants to be a doctor when he grows up.

It may still be a few years before Jonah becomes a surgeon. In the meantime, he is enjoying his social media fame and wants to inspire people to take up crocheting.

Jonah’s Hands only receives a limited number of orders, but it’s certainly worth it!

Jonah is currently working on a book called Hello, Crochet Friends!. In addition to that, his family has started a GoFundMe in an effort to help other children in Ethiopia achieve their dreams.

Jonah is teaming up with the non-profit organization Roots Ethiopia in an effort to help other children. The fundraiser aims to bring Jonah back to his birthplace so he can reach out to his fellow Ethiopians and hopefully inspire them to identify their strengths.

Here’s Jonah offering an update on the fundraiser.
