Taking care of one’s self is very important. However, some people took it to a whole new level, not realizing that they may actually be doing more harm to their body than saving it.
Despite your effort in finding the perfect way to keep yourself healthy, there are things that you do that could spell trouble. Here are 10 signs of an eating disorder that shouldn’t be mistaken for healthy habits.
1. You focus on your body flaws.
Self-conscious people stare at themselves in front of a mirror and see nothing but flaws. This obsessive behavior is very unhealthy.
2. Skipping a workout makes you panic.
Missing a workout session is not just an absent day for you, but it makes you feel like a failure. Therefore, you felt the need to burn a ridiculous amount of calories on your next trip to the gym.
3. Your hair, skin, and nails are in poor condition.
A person with an eating disorder may have fully convinced themselves that they’re feeling fine, but their appearance is a total giveaway that something is wrong.
4. Food is one of the top things, if not the top, that gives you pleasure.
There’s nothing weird in getting pleasure from food. However, if that’s the only thing that matters to you,then this could be a sign of an eating disorder.
5. You think people near you judges you when you eat.
You’d rather skip a meal than being judged of the food that you consumed.
6. You do a lot of cheat meals.
Having an eating disorder also means having a strange appetite. Despite eating a lot of food in one sitting, you still feel the need to eat more. After realizing you ate a lot, you then feel guilty about it.
7. Food is always on your mind.
There’s nothing wrong with thinking about food. But when food consumes your mind most of the time, it could be orthorexia, which is an eating disorder characterized by an excessive preoccupation with eating healthy food).
8. You cook delicious food for other people.
You cook to satisfy your cravings but would not take a bite at all.
9. You feel cold all the time.
Having no fat in your body makes it difficult for you to warm up. So while other people are enjoying the sun in their summer clothes, you’re layering yourself with multiple clothing.

If you feel hungry, eat. There’s nothing wrong with that. However, some people overeat when they “think” that they are hungry, rather than feeling that they are.
