Finally getting that engagement ring you’ve waited so long for is supposed to be a very happy moment for any man or woman. But not so much in this case.
While everyone has their personal preference, an engagement ring should really be more about what it represents than what it looks like. However, one woman obviously didn’t quite feel that way and took to the internet to complain about the ring she’d been given.
A Reddit user named Mortadelllla shared a post from Facebook by an unidentified woman who was sharing her new engagement ring. But in the post, she revealed her dismay for the family heirloom passed down from her fiance’s grandmother.
The woman wrote:
“My boyfriend finally asked me to marry him and this is really what he gives me…he pulled it out of his pocket and it took just about everything in me to not laugh and question whether this was real life or not LMAO
I’ve had it a few days now, and I’ve gotten used it so I don’t think it’s so bad… but also maybe I’ve just come to terms with it. I definitely wish it was something different, but oh well… It was his grandmothers and the pearl is my birthstone and I think that the only reason I’ve been able to tolerate it.”
Rather than the helpful advice and support she was probably hoping for, the woman’s post was met with quite a few criticisms from people who judged her for complaining.
Some of the comments read:
“Hope that guy takes the ring back and runs.”
“I am going to pretend he’s getting another ring so she’ll give him back his grandmother’s ring, then he can bold without losing a sentimental item.”
“It’s a terrible engagement ring (pearls are soft and should only be worn occasionally) but don’t post to Facebook about it. I hope he realizes she can be doing this with all their problems and that’s super unhealthy.”
