Be honest: If you were given the chance to choose between hanging out with your friends or your pets, which would you prefer? While some would easily pick their human pals, it’s also true that there are those among us who’d much rather chill with their animals instead.

This is according to a recent research that said about 53% of pet owners said they enjoyed their pets’ company more than their human buddies. Moreover, 17% even confessed they love spending quality time with their animal better than their significant other.

The survey was conducted by Mercure Hotels, a dog-friendly chain of hotels. The results further tell us that about 79% of pet owners admitted to missing their pets during far travels while a quarter reported “feeling lost without their treasured pet by their side,” shared a Unilad article.

James Lys, General Manager of Mercure Stratford-upon-Avon, explained:

“Our pets are a huge part of our lives and can make our day-to-day lives richer than it would be without them.

“We have noticed a marked increase in guests who bring their pets, specifically their dogs, travelling with them to share in the experience.”

38% of those surveyed said that, at certain points, they’ve brought their pets along with them during trips. Meanwhile, 51% revealed their trips would have been better if they were allowed to bring their pets with them during travels.

Lys likewise said about their services:

“We take time to get to know our guests and understand their needs so we can try and deliver personal and meaningful experiences.

“Being able to bring your dog when you’re away makes all the difference to some of our guests, so that’s why Mercure hotels across the country now welcome dogs.

“We’ll create special menus and treats for guests’ dogs and our hotel teams have even been known to walk the dogs when their owners couldn’t.

“It’s important to our guests so it’s important to us.”
