5 Healthy Foods That Won’t Make You Feel Hungry

A lot of people who are trying to eat healthy and lose weight find themselves challenged by the pangs of hunger that they feel in the middle and end of the day. This is why most people quit healthy eating; they simply couldn’t get the full and satisfying feeling that comes with eating “regular” food.

Most of the time, however, these people just don’t know the right food to eat. There are actually some fruits and vegetables that fill up the stomach without the heavy and bloated feeling. These are fiber-rich food items that makes us feel fuller longer.

#1. Potato

Potato has gotten a lot of bad press lately for it’s supposed contribution to weight gain. The truth is, a lot of people are eating their potato the wrong way; they eat it fried or loaded with high-calorie condiments such as sour cream or butter. On its own, a potato only has 110 calories and zero fat. To give taste to your potato, substitute greek yoghurt to your sour cream.

#2. Banana

It’s a staple among bodybuilders and athletes because it works as well as a sports drink in refuelling the body with potassium and vitamin B6. Bananas, especially the green ones, have resistant starch that promotes fullness in the stomach. It makes you feel full without making you fat. Browner bananas are sweeter and have more calories but are still low in fat.

#3. Cauliflower

It’s a versatile vegetable that is an ideal replacement from rice to pizza crust, given its bland flavor. There are many ways to cook and prepare it – you can boil, mash, and roast it. Its high fiber content slows digestion and promotes fullness.

#4. Avocado

Another fruit that that has been misunderstood, avocado is a high-calorie item that can actually lower cholesterol levels. It has unsaturated fat, which means it’s safer to consume, although you should in moderate amounts.

#5. Berries

If you’re a frequent snacker, eating berries is the answer to your problems. They are lower in calories and high in antioxidants and phytochemicals. Eating a cup of berries gives you a load of fiber, vitamins, and minerals.
