8 Health Issues Your Eyes Can Warn You About

The eyes are more than just the window to the soul.

The human body is quite amazing as it has its own natural way of telling you that something is quite not right. One of the ways that your body is warning you about potential health problems is through the eyes.

Here are eight (8) conditions of the eye that could tell you that something far more serious is happening inside your body.

#1. Persistent Stye

Styes are a bacterial infection characterized by pain and irritation. Usually, this condition clears up on its own in a few days. However, if a stye is persistent and does not go away after three months, it could signal a much more serious condition such as sebaceous gland carcinoma, a rare form of cancer.

#2. Blurred Vision

Having a blurry vision is not just a sign of aging. It could happen, especially to those who spend too much time in front of the computer. Science now has a name for it – computer vision syndrome.

#3. Bulging Eyes

If you feel pressure in your eyes as if they were expanding, this could be a sign of a thyroid problem known as Graves’ disease. In this case, it could also be hard to close your eyes which makes it bulge. If you notice this, visit your doctor immediately.

#4. Yellow Sclera

The white part of the eye is called sclera and there could be times that it is not white. When this part turns yellow, it most likely signals jaundice, which might tell that you are having problems with your gallbladder or bile ducts.

#5. Loss of Eyebrow

Nutrient deficiency, stress, and aging can result in the loss of eyebrow. But a condition called alopecia areata might also be causing the hair loss. This condition signals hypothyroidism and if it happens for no reason, see your doctor as soon as possible.

#6. Blind Spot

#7 Sudden Changes In Vision

If you start to notice that your vision is starting to become clouded or you are starting to lose it, it is best to seek immediate medical care as it could be the first signs of an impending stroke.

#5. Cloudy Vision Accompanied By Diabetes

Diabetic patients are at risk of vision problems due to a condition called diabetic retinopathy. This condition commonly causes blindness among diabetics.

The above-mentioned eye issues possibly tell an underlying health problem. When experiencing any of the above, it is best to consult the doctor first before making any conclusions.

Neurosurgeon Vows to Perform First Ever Head Transplant in the World This Year

Off with their heads!

The idea of a human head transplant is like something lifted straight from a sci-fi novel or movie. It sounds absurdly farfetched and medically impossible that skepticism, to a certain extent, is inevitable.

However, Dr. Sergio Canavero, an Italian neurosurgeon, begs to differ. He argues that a human head transplant is not far from reality and though it may be extremely difficult, it is possible. Amidst sharp criticisms and accusations that his claims are mere publicity stunts, Dr. Canavero remains resolute and vows that the first ever human head transplantation will occur this year. In fact, he was able to gather a multinational team of surgeons composed of doctors from China, Russia, and South Korea.

Interestingly, Dr. Canavero bears an uncanny resemblance with this doctor from Metal Gear Solid.

DARPA’s New Self-Steering Bullets Turn In Mid-Flight to Hit Moving Targets!

The Extreme Accuracy Tasked Ordnance (EXACTO) bullets were created to boost the hit rates for difficult, long-distance shots.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) — which works under the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) — developed self-steering bullets in a bid to boost the hit rates for difficult, long-distance shots.

Established in 1958, DARPA works closely with the members of DOD's Science and Technology (S&T) network. DARPA's main task is "to accelerate the adoption of new technologies."

Snipers are the target beneficiaries of the self-steering bullet.
