  • The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced that people who have been fully-vaccinated against Covid-19 are permitted to gather in small groups without having to wear face coverings.
  • As more people get vaccinated and as the number of infections decline, more activities will be permitted.
  • “We remain in the midst of a serious pandemic, and still over 90 percent of our population is not fully vaccinated,” reminded CDC Director Rochelle Walensky.

People who have received full vaccination against Covid-19 are now allowed to gather in small groups even without wearing masks, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Despite the latest safety update, the U.S. public health agency reminded that it is still important to avoid non-essential travel. Plus people still have to continue wearing masks in public.

As CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said:

“Today’s action represents an important first step. It is not our final destination. As more people get vaccinated, levels of COVID-19 infection decline in communities, and as our understanding of COVID immunity accrues, we look forward to updating these recommendations to the public.”

“We’ve begun to describe what a world looks like as we move beyond Covid-19. As more and more people get vaccinated… the list of activities will continue to grow,” added CDC senior adviser Andy Slavitt.

However, Walensky also pointed out:

“We remain in the midst of a serious pandemic, and still over 90 percent of our population is not fully vaccinated. Therefore, everyone whether vaccinated or not, should continue to avoid medium- and large-sized gatherings as well as non-essential travel.”

According to the CDC, 9.2% of the entire population (or around 30 million people) have been fully vaccinated with Pfizer Inc/BioNTech SE, Moderna Inc and Johnson & Johnson Covid-19 vaccines.
