We’ve all heard many crazy festivals across the world but clearly, the Burning Man is one of the most notable out there. Originally established in 1986 by two buddies who burned an 8-ft statue on a San Francisco beach, this year’s festival photos proved to be really insane.

So what exactly is the Burning Man Festival? Well the official website tells us it is billed as a “Radical Ritual.”

The site further says:

“Once a year, tens of thousands of people gather in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert to create Black Rock City, a temporary metropolis dedicated to community, art, self-expression, and self-reliance. In this crucible of creativity, all are welcome.

“Burning Man isn’t your usual festival. It’s a vibrant participatory metropolis generated by its citizens.”
