A A A

We all want to put our personal stamp on where we live, but some homeowners go too far to when it comes to making their homes stand out.

Although these houses may look odd or hideous to us, they are their respective owners’ dream homes. In fact, several of them boast of awesome interiors.

So, who cares if they look like nightmares to the rest of the world? Apparently, beauty is in the eye of the homeowner.

This house’s owner clearly got a carried away in paying homage to the luxury brand. If the people behind Louis Vuitton want to get a closer look at this house, they’d have to go to Mexico.

2. Rainbow House

The rainbow is a symbol of hope. However, it didn’t turn out too well when all its colors were used for this house in Melbourne, Australia.

3. Jigsaw Home

This house in Portugal looks like it was carved out of a boulder. It was actually built in between two giant boulders and made to look “rocky.” Truth be told, it really doesn’t look inviting.

This cowboy mansion in Wyoming was built with the best intentions. The owner used salvaged materials for it. However, the awkwardly shaped rooms and multiple balconies turned the place into a mansion of confusion.

6. Top-Heavy Home

This architectural curiosity in Cape Town, South Africa was practically being given away when the property went up for auction back in 2011. According to the Cape Town Property Bubble, the ad had stated: “Buy the plot and get the house for free.”

A row of 12 identical bungalows in the suburb of Dagenham in London has been collectively dubbed as “The Crematorium” by locals. The brick homes are 20 feet high and only have two tiny front windows. It’s quite a dreary sight.

8. The UFO House

This out-of-this-world abode is located in the Sanzhi District in New Taipei City, Taiwan. It was one of the so-called “UFO-style” residences constructed sometime in 1978 as part of a resort that was supposed to be marketed as a vacation spot for U.S. military officers stationed in Asia. Investment losses forced the developer to abandon the site in 1980.

9. Habitat 67

The Habitat 67 housing complex in Montreal, Canada looks like it’s made up of stacked boxes. There are some people, though, who consider it an architectural landmark.

10. Toilet House

Sim Jae-Duck — the late mayor of Suwon, South Korea — was a prominent advocate of providing clean toilets. To reflect the cause that was close to his heart, he built this two-story home to mark the 2007 inaugural meeting of the World Toilet Association. It’s a state-of-the-art home made of steel and glass. However, as you can see, it’s shaped like a toilet.
