In an attempt to make the fish that they’re selling look fresh, a store in Kuwait was sticking plastic googly eyes on them. Luckily, their buyers were not as stupid as they thought!

If they really wanted to make it look real, they should have tried harder. The fake eyes were clear plastic and cartoonish, and only fools would fall for this trick, unless they’re too busy to even notice them.

Social media users took to Twitter to ridicule the unnamed fishmonger’s ploy.

It is said that Kuwaiti police immediately ordered the store’s closure after it was reported.

A woman took to social media to share a video of what she discovered from a store. The clip was bizarre and disturbing.

In the video, the woman was wearing plastic gloves as she inspected the fish. She then removed the googly eye to reveal a not-so-fresh fish. Obviously, it wasn’t as fresh as she expected when she bought it from the shop.

Economist Mohamed El Dahshan shared the photos on Twitter. As expected the shocking post quickly went viral.

Netizens were left in hilarious disbelief at the creativeness of the store owner.

Netizens quickly mocked the shop’s attempt to pull off selling old fish with funny memes that became famous online.

“I thought I’ve seen it all, but Twitter always proves me wrong,” one netizen said.

“Never judge the freshness of fish by the googliness of their eyes,” another one noted.

Pictures of fruit, animals, and celebrities with “googly eyes” were then shared on Twitter.

After the googly-eye incident became viral, a different fish company in Kuwait joked that they are selling “fish without beautifying agents,” adding an image of a fish with colored contact lenses.
