Barber Gives 100 Kids Free Haircuts And School Supplies For First Day Of School
With school supplies, new clothes, and haircuts — going back to class can be expensive. That’s why an Alabama barber gave these necessities for free to 100 kids in his community.
Perfect Line Barber Shop manager Robert Banks didn’t do this act out of pity or to be famous. He did it because he wanted to make sure that these kids will look their best and feel great on the first day of school.
Robert gave out 100 free backpacks and haircuts to kids.
Robert said:
“Their appearance matters. The first day of school is the best day of school.”
The Alabama barber used money out of his own pocket for the said project. He believes that he can positively affect the future of this community just by showing these kids their potential.
He clearly enjoys helping out the kids as he had already done this before.
As it turns out, this isn’t the first time that Robert had done this act of kindness. The barber had organized the “Annual Back To School Support & Supplies” event at his shop in Ensley, Alabama, for three years now.
He shared:
“In this community, we have a lack of education, high crime rate, so these children are our future … So if we can give to the children now, and let them see us giving back, when they get older, they’ll give back. It’ll be a cycle. It’ll be a transformation.”
Robert wants to prove to these kids that they're capable of making their dreams a reality.
While cutting a boy’s hair who gave a sudden grin, Robert said:
“Seeing the children smile out there playing, that makes my day right there. That’s all I need to do … See that little smirk he just did right there? That’s all I need to see right there. That little smile.”
