A A A

Dreams are awesome for it has no limits. Thanks to my dreams, I have become a martial artist, an astronaut, a senator (ugh!), a pilot, and a race car driver, to name a few. Then, a week ago, I dreamt I was a vampire. Really, that was one of the coolest dreams that I’ve ever had.

But what are dreams and why do we have them?

Though science still doesn’t have a definite explanation as to why and how dreams occur, researchers have hypothesized that dreams represent our subconscious desires and wishes, and constitute consolidated images and information gathered during our waking hours.

To put it simply, dreams are like movies that our subconscious minds create when we’re asleep.

According to psychotherapist Jeffrey Sumber, “The meaning of our dreams oftentimes relates to things we are needing to understand about ourselves and the world around us.”

Hence, dreams are symbols, and they ought to tell us something. Scroll down to see the most common dreams and their possible meanings, as interpreted by:

2. Falling

People commonly dream of the sensation of falling. This may mean that things in your life are getting too way out of control. This may also signify a fear of failure or that some of the risky choices that you’re made in the past are coming back to bite you. Dreaming of teeth may also mean that you are too concerned with your appearance and not so much about your health.

5. Ants

On a superficial level, ants in our dreams may mean that something is “bugging” us during our waking life. This can be our subconscious mind’s way of telling us to deal with these kinds of things rather than letting them build up. Alternatively, ants in our dreams may signify hard work as ants are known for their sheer diligence. This may mean that you believe teamwork and hard work are necessary to get things done. Dreaming of ants may also mean that you value your relationship with your family and friends.
