  • The new ‘Powerpuff’ series will reportedly debut on fall 2021 starring Chloe Bennet as Blossom, Dove Cameron as Bubbles, and Yana Perrault as Buttercup.

The CW has finally unveiled the first official look of the upcoming live-action Powerpuff Girls. The said reboot will bring the fan favorite super trio of Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup into real life.

The official photo was first shared online via Variety and it has since gained mixed reactions from longtime fans of the smash-hit Cartoon Network animation.

Sugar, spice, and everything nice…

As earlier revealed, Chloe Bennet will be playing Blossom with Dove Cameron as Bubbles and Yana Perrault as Buttercup.

According to the plot:

“The Powerpuff Girls used to be America’s pint-sized superheroes. Now they’re disillusioned twentysomethings who resent having lost their childhood to crime fighting. Will they agree to reunite now that the world needs them more than ever?”

Set photos have earlier made rounds online, showing the three actresses wearing the iconic pink, blue, and green outfits.

Fans, however, are not impressed with what they saw, with some commenting:

“This is why y’all need to leave cartoon as cartoon cause this looks absolutely ridiculous. 3 grown ass women flying around in slip dresses & penny loafers.”

Another wrote “I’ve seen Halloween costumes that look better than this” while someone simply encouraged the network to “scrap the whole thing!.”

Based on the animated series created by Craig McCracken, the new series will also star Donald Faison as Professor Utonium, Nicholas Podany as villain Joseph “Jojo” Mondel Jr. and Robyn Lively as Sara Bellum. Meanwhile, iconic voice actor Tom Kenny will also be reprising his role as the series narrator.

‘Powerpuff’ will be helmed by director Maggie Kiley and will be written and produced by Heather Regnier and Dialo Cody. The show is expected to debut on fall 2021.
