A A A

You’ve seen all those gorgeous images of people, places, animals, food, and other things posted on social media sites like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, and don’t these photos just give you the sinking feeling of inadequacy and not just a little envy?

The hilarious fact, however, is that not all these images sum up the real story, and you can kick your green-eyed monster to the curb once you’ve seen the reality behind these carefully edited photos your friends and contacts aren’t really telling you…or the whole world about:

Like it or not, people always want to show the best sides of themselves, no matter how far removed it is from the reality of their lives.

Whether it stems from an attempt to boost their self-confidence, make other people envious, or show the whole world what a wonderful time they’re having, these heavily edited images proliferate social media in selfies, groufies, travel and food shots, and various other attempts at artistic photography.

Unless you were actually there when the photo was taken, it can be difficult to separate fact from fiction. Even the most “bare” and “unfiltered” images have been subjected to a couple of tweaks here and there.

The crop tool is very popular….and this hedge is only as tall as the subject’s squat…
