Sharkboy and Lavagirl Are Back (As Parents) In New Netflix Movie

  • Sharkboy and Lavagirl are set to return together in a new Netflix film entitled we can Be Heroes.
  • Set for a January 1, 2021 release, the film is written, produced, and directed by Robert Rodriguez, who was also the director of the 2005 movie Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D.

Ever seen The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D back in the days? The adventure fantasy movie directed by Robert Rodriguez was a family favorite during its time.

Well who could have guessed that 15 years later, we’ll get some news that the popular duo will be back together – this time as parents!

“We Can Be Heroes,” a new superhero movie written, produced, and directed by Rodriguez, serves as a stand-alone sequel to the hit 2005 film.

In an IMDB page, we read a short plot summary that says:

“When alien invaders kidnap Earth’s superheroes, their children must team up and learn to work together if they want to save their parents and the world.”

And yes, Sharkboy and Lavagirl now have a daughter together and her name is Guppy, played by young star Vivien Lyra Blair (Bird Box).

We Can Be Heroes features Pedro Pascal, Christian Slater, and Boyd Holbrook as The Heroics, along with young heroes YaYa Gosselin as Missy, Isaiah Russell-Bailey as Rewind, Akira Akbar as Fast Forward, Hala Finley as Ojo, and Dylan Henry Lau as Slo-Mo.

Taylor Dooley, who is now 27 years old, reprises her role as Lavagirl while JJ Dashnaw replaces Taylor Lautner as Sharkboy. Together, they have a daughter named Guppy played by Vivien Lyra Blair.

Other cast members include Priyanka Chopra Jonas as Ms. Granada and Haley Rreinhart as Ms. Vox.

From the looks of that trailer, it’s definitely safe to say that this is gonna be a fun-filled popcorn movie for the whole family.

Watch out for We Can Be Heroes as it gets released this January 1, 2021 on Netflix.
